Description

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with asset insurance provider to ensure appropriate level of compliance.
  • Facilitate, maintain and improve management of change process (MOC) in the Security and Risk section.
  • Co-ordinate internal risk auditing program.
  • Provide technical input into significant incident investigation.
  • Provide support during regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Contribute to the achievement of OH&S objectives and minimise company risk exposure.
  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes of incidents for the aim of creating a safer work environment.
  • Participate actively in safety enhancement program, safety meetings, safety audits etc.
  • Minimize company risk exposure by embedding risk management process with the workforce in compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Facilitate and participate in hazard identification exercises, risk analysis and risk reviews.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to reflect current risk management practices.
  • Maintain the Security and Risk Management systems.
  • Train the workforce in current security and risk management practices.

Customer and Client Relationship Management:

  • Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing the corporate security profile.
  • Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with service providers and applicable Business Units, as well as other functions responsible to ensure that the business needs are met, and employees are satisfied.
  • Represent Tronox in a professional manner.
  • Continuously liaise with local and National SAPS, NIU structures; SAPS Community Forums; Emergency Services, Traffic / Metro Police and neighbouring land owners/ farmers and other relevant external stakeholders.

Risk Management and Control:

  • Evaluate security efforts to improve security and loss prevention approach and methods.
  • Develop and present employee security awareness programs to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and assist with investigation of reported commercial crimes (incl. at other BU's) as per instruction by Regional SHEQ Director and of Managing Director.
  • Effective execution of electronic access control measures and controlling of the access control system.
  • Manage / conduct collection and preservation of evidence to support post investigation actions (employee discipline, criminal or civil proceedings, arbitration).
  • Responsible for required certificates including Explosives where applicable.
  • Monitor activities and mass meetings which could potentially result in industrial actions or disruption of production.
  • Attend Tender Committee meetings and conduct regular checks / audits on Tender Procedures and scrap sales as and when necessary.

Specialised Support:

  • Provide timely and accurate advice and support to management and other personnel in developing performance requirements and contractual terms for security vendors / suppliers.
  • Provide monthly reports to Regional Director, SHEQ.
  • Ensure all reported crime is properly investigated with complete reports and necessary recommendations / preventative actions.
  • Initiate criminal prosecution actions in liaison with Management.
  • Conduct monthly audits.
  • Identify potential security threats and report to Management.

Compliance:

  • Observe and enforce discipline to ensure compliance with any codes of practice, instructions, procedures, directives, permissions, exceptions etc. and investigate all breaches and contraventions.Ensure compliance with the provisions of all relevant legislations.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage budget.
  • Manage operating cost and ensure effective financial controls are in place.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy:

  • Implement, execute and maintain approved Risk Control strategies and standards.
  • Establish effective monitoring processes to ensure organisational needs and requirements are met.
  • Implement and maintain crime prevention plan and related activities.
  • Establish and maintain an effective intelligence network.
  • Develop and manage threat and vulnerability analyses to determine the probable frequency and severity of criminal activities on the organisation.
  • Implement and maintain a personnel security plan and background investigations (screening procedure prior to appointments).

Effective Staff Supervision:

  • An optimised team structure is manned by staff that is motivated, empowered and led by sound performance management and transformational leadership practices.
  • Promote teamwork, provide support and manage performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans of subordinates.
  • Oversee all recruitment within security department related activities and financial competency development of reporting staff.
  • Manage internal Risk Control staff as well as security contracts (where applicable).
  • Continuously evaluate external security service provider (where applicable).
  • Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Regional SHEQ Director (direct superior) and Site Directors (secondary supervisors).
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 (Mandatory).
  • Degree in Security Risk Management or equivalent (Mandatory).
  • Security Certificates (E, B, C, D, A).
  • SITA Registered.
  • Driver’s License (Mandatory).
  • Computer Literacy (Mandatory).

Years of related prior experience:

  • 5 years’ Relevant experience within a heavy industry / mining / production environment experience (Mandatory).
  • 1 year Criminal investigations experience (Mandatory).
  • 3 years’ Procurement procedures and Contract management experience (Recommended).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in security related technology and implementation
