Position Overview

This key strategic position directs and leads Tronox’s largest Pigment Plant, located in Hamilton, Mississippi. The Site Director is vital to the success of the business. In operation for more than 60 years, the Hamilton plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies. The plant was constructed with a 25,000 ton/year production capacity in 1964 and is now approaching 239,000 ton/year. The position drives the Plant in delivering Safe, Quality, Low Cost, Sustainable Tonnes, while ensuring steady improvement in all areas, with a view of achieving operational excellence. . The successful candidate will have significant input into business plans and activities that drive Tronox’s strategy to guarantee success.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Direct and Coach Site Leadership to ensure the Site’s activities and practices are safe, including operating consistently with Federal, State, and Local regulations and corporate policies and procedures, while aligning with the global safety, health, and environmental strategy.
  • Leads the development and delivery of a multi-disciplinary Site business plan
  • Organizes, directs, and motivates Site employees and their activities to assure achievement of Safe, Quality, Low Cost, Sustainable Tons.
  • Leads and inspires the Hamilton Site through Tronox’s exciting journey of business transformation
  • Drives process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives; supporting innovative opportunities to drive down costs and optimize the utilization of assets
  • Assures the site leadership and other levels have the proper tools and skills to develop production budgets, variance analysis and financials to drive business improvement.
  • Leads the site in implementing innovative opportunities to achieve maximum asset utilization at the lowest cost
  • Ensures production/ maintenance schedules are aligned, and plant availability is optimized and aligned to business priorities
  • Ensures the site is aligned with Integrated Business Planning to deliver the demand plan consistently at the best cost possible
  • Provides opportunities for training of personnel to insure professional growth and a competent Site leadership team
  • Represents Tronox in activities outside the facility assuring that our values are always kept at a high standard.

Requirements and Desirable Attributes:

  • TiO2 manufacturing experience is essential.
  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree and / or 10 years comparable experience in a similar level leadership role.
  • The demonstrable ability to influence strategic direction and foster key internal and external relationships.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities, with a proven ability to deal with multiple stakeholders, while remaining approachable, yet decisive.
  • A high degree of both business and commercial acumen.
  • A willingness and desire to continually innovate, improve and drive the integrated mineral resource and pigment manufacturing plan

This is a permanent position with an attractive salary and benefits package. Domestic and international relocation will also be considered for this position.
