About the Role
The function of this position is to conduct chemical, physical and optical tests on raw and finished titanium dioxide pigment and its process streams and to similarly test paints and plastics made from finished pigment.12-hour rotating shifts to include nights and weekend. Also ensures the operation of the plant in an environmentally responsible manner in compliance with the Environmental Policy. This position is part of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality department reporting directly to the Quality Laboratory Lead.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform chemical, physical, and optical tests on raw and finished titanium dioxide pigment and its process streams and to similarly test paints and plastics made from finished pigments
- Perform required work without injury to self, others, the environment, or physical surroundings
- Judge the acceptability of test results to determine the need for repeat analysis or additional sampling
- Accurately record and report results of assigned tests
- Compositing finished pigment samples
- Prepare solutions used in the testing of raw and finished pigment
- Lead safety meetings
- Perform required work and paperwork in support of ISO activity

About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong preference for Chemistry. Preferred fields include Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a closely related natural science discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, ideally within a chemical manufacturing process.
- Strong deductive reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills required.
- Prior laboratory experience preferred, particularly in a related field.
- Experience supporting or monitoring chemical manufacturing processes (e.g., batch processing, quality control testing, process validation, or troubleshooting) preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with industry standards or regulatory environments (e.g., GMP, ISO) is a plus.
- MX or above on most recent performance evaluation and no corrective action
Physical Requirements
- Must be clean-shaven in areas where facial hair would interfere with the proper fit and seal of a respirator. This includes no beards, sideburns, or excessive growth.
- Regularly perform repetitive motions involving hands and wrists, and occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc. and operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Occasionally working in outdoor weather conditions, noisy environments, and with environmental hazards.
- Occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
