The newTRON Business Transformation Program

newTRON is our first major step to achieve our vertical integration-centric strategy, a broad-based operations and business systems transformation that can enable us to meet the foundational requirement of competitive pigment costs. To be the global leader in TiO2, we must adopt a standardized business and technology architecture that elevates business performance, applies the best of TiO2 technology and provides real operations and information technology convergence. This process must take a global view of our operations, reduce costs through standardization and automation, enable operational excellence and ensure our digital capabilities unleash our ability to exploit our global footprint. This crucial project will bridge the gap between where we are today and fully realizing the benefits of standardized processes and operations technologies, and it will impact all aspects of our business, across all layers of technology.

The Scope of the newTRON 1.0 transformation is focused on three key areas, namely:

  • Global end-to-end process design across operations and business functions as well as establishing a Tronox-wide data strategy, master data governance and data cleansing initiative
  • Operational Transformation including full roll-out at Tronox sites, across all layers of Technology from instrumentation, to manufacturing execution systems, to implementation of standard maintenance planning and scheduling processes
  • Global greenfield implementation of ERP (SAP S/4HANA) (currently Tronox has multiple SAP and non-SAP ERP systems) and new peripheral business applications to support areas like supply chain optimization, customer relationship management, integrated business planning, global trade services, logistics planning and execution, human resource management as well as enabling platforms like document management system.

Position Overview

This is a key role responsible for successfully leading Cutover/Deployment Management for IT and OT digital solutions for the newTRON transformation program. The Integrated System Cutover Lead is responsible for providing the strategy, approach, checklists and work plans to drive to a successful production go-live. The candidate will report to the newTRON Integrated Solution Delivery Lead who has overall accountability for developing defining the integrated design, test and deployment methodology for the program; manage integrated testing, handover and release of solutions across multiple work fronts for the transformation program.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide the strategy, approach, checklists and work plans to drive to a successful production go-live – This includes both Major Release Cutover and Business Deployment Cutover.
  • Leads cutover activities for Pre Go-Live, Go-Live and Post Go-Live
  • Develop the command center logistics, communication and escalation plan and command center documentation. (policies, procedures, downtime processes)
  • Develop back out / contingency plans for Cutover
  • Develops detailed cutover checklist and project plan incorporating both technical, operations and business tasks; ensure owners are assigned and a timeline to each task.
  • Create and Maintain Cutover Project Plans
  • Plan resources, human and physical, required for cut-over activities. (contact list)
  • Orchestrate Cutover Plan (handoffs) for Mock Cutovers, Dress Rehearsal and Production
  • Establish & drive Communication Plan; provide cutover status reporting to program leadership & key stakeholders
  • Involved in coordination of BAU shut down activities prior to go-live.
  • Ensures entry into and exit out of cutover stage gates are met including the final Go/No-Go meetings
  • Acts as the final point of escalation for all Cut-over issues, proactively bringing about appropriate interventions when the Cutover may be jeopardized
  • Multiple stakeholders: Infrastructure/Basis, Development, Data Conversion/Validation, Business Functions, Tronox Operations Information System (TOIS), Release Manager, Integration, Sites, Sr. Leadership
  • Work closely with various integration partners levering expertise & planning models
  • Be the work package owner for Cutover Management: Establish Cutover Management Strategy & related guidelines to be used across all applications. Continually work towards making improvements in the process

Skills and Qualifications

A candidate that we would love would be:

  • 10+ years’ experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development with major programs involving both IT and OT systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2-6 years of previous cutover and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding / formal training of project management principles preferred)
  • Experienced with managing delivery in multi-vendor environments with a natural ability to drive alignment where there are disparate views
  • Must have demonstrated experience in breaking down complex technical, functional process dependencies into more manageable tasks in the deployment plan
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Hands on experience in a manufacturing industry, preferably Chemicals and/or Mining
  • Agile to effectively work across multiple timezones & under tight schedules.

    • Technical and Information Skills:
      • General PC knowledge incl. Microsoft Office; expert level knowledge of Excel
      • Awareness of the ISA95 framework and associated IT and OT integration challenges
      • Experience in building and reporting on KPI for Releases.
      • Must have prior working experience in SAP technical areas. ABAP experience, a plus.
      • Must have prior working experience in middleware integration technologies (Azure, Dell Boomi, API, ETL)
