Description
- Develop and implement occupational hygiene programs, policies, and procedures to control exposure to harmful substances and prevent occupational illnesses.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on occupational hygiene best practices and procedures.
- Investigate and respond to employee complaints related to occupational hygiene concerns.
- Collaborate with other departments, HSE team, and management to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- To prepare, implement and manage an occupational hygiene programme.
- To report all non-compliance as per MHSA and its regulations.
- To assist the management in terms of the mine fires and emergency preparedness.
- To prepare and compile statutory DMR reports, milestone reports and operational reports.
- To assist with drafting, review and implementation of Occupational Hygiene Procedures, COPs and training material.
- To participate in investigations to accidents, serious illness, health threatening occurrences.
- To inform the management in terms workplace conditions.
- To ensure quality control in terms of the use of instrumentation and calibration.
- To ensure the record of Occupational Hygiene measurements are kept as per MHSA.
- Designing appropriate occupational hygiene sampling strategies.
- Occupational exposure assessment and monitoring- all stresses /agents.
- Noise identification, evaluation and noise control
- Environmental Noise -identification ,evaluation and control.
- Conduct air quality monitoring, noise monitoring, and other occupational hygiene testing as required.
- To participate in internal and external audits.
- To keep track of legislation pertaining hygiene.
- To represent the mine on relevant occupational hygiene and health forums.
- To conduct workplace inspections, exposure monitoring, walkthrough surveys and recommend controls.
- Experience in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards in the workplace including environmental agents and stresses, chemical hazards, physical hazards or biological hazards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of occupational hygiene data and monitoring results.
