This crucial project will bridge the gap between where we are today and fully realizing the benefits of standardized processes and operations technologies, and it will impact all aspects of our business, across all layers of technology.

The Scope of the newTRON 1.0 transformation is focused on three key areas, namely:

  • Global end-to-end process design across operations and business functions as well as establishing a Tronox-wide data strategy, master data governance and data cleansing initiative
  • Operational Transformation including full roll-out at Tronox sites, across all layers of Technology from instrumentation, to manufacturing execution systems, to implementation of standard maintenance planning and scheduling processes
  • Global greenfield implementation of ERP (SAP S/4HANA) (currently Tronox has multiple SAP and non-SAP ERP systems) and new peripheral business applications to support areas like supply chain optimization, customer relationship management, integrated business planning, global trade services, logistics planning and execution, human resource management as well as enabling platforms like document management system.

 

Position Overview

This is a key role responsible for building and leading an assigned stream in the Tronox Operational Information Systems (TOIS) Application landscape across the newTRON program. This is a key position critical to driving Digitalization at Tronox and contributing to the Architecture function within the Business Transformation Program which is pivotal to Tronox’s business strategy.

This position will be responsible for the identification, design, build, test, and implementation (including vendor management) of future state MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) strategies and solutions for the assigned stream within the TOIS team.

This role will work closely with design Partner resources within the TOIS team, the Operations Business Process Management (BPM) team, Digital Integration team and Business Functions team to ensure tight systems integration and ensure there are no gaps or overlaps in future state applications functionality. Collaboration with key stakeholders, vendors and subject matter experts is a critical part of this role.

The candidate will report to the newTRON Manager TOIS (Tronox Operations Information Systems) Application Architecture who has overall accountability for delivering future state TOIS Architecture capabilities at Tronox.

We have 5 leads in the TOIS area, but only looking to appoint one:

For the Operation Integrated Planning and Scheduling we have specific needs:

  • Strong knowledge of Production planning in Pigment sites (must) and Mineral sands planning (could)
  • Strong knowledge of integrated planning and scheduling to bring Production and Maintenance planning and scheduling into an Operation Plan and schedule
  • Good understanding of the internal customers of full chain from IBP into production planning, scheduling, producing and sales
  • A technical background to understand the software - Integration and technical requirements
  • Knowledge of applications / solutions in the market is optional for Tronox Internal candidates

 

TOIS Functional Groups

The TOIS applications are grouped into logical business functional clusters as represented in the list below. The figure below furthermore provides some insight into the typical logical applications contained in each of the functional clusters. The assigned Tronox TOIS Functional Leads will own, and support one or more functional clusters based on the individual skill sets in addition to the complexity of each functional cluster.

  • TOIS Maintenance & Asset Management
  • TOIS Production Quality and SHE
  • TOIS Production MES
  • TOIS Operations Plan & Scheduling

The Tronox leads will furthermore be supported by external TOIS design Partners based on their specialism.
Tronox TOIS Functional Leads for Asset management and SHE will be supported by the Manager TOIS Application Architecture.

 

Output

The successful candidate will:

  • Report to the Manager TOIS Applications and will be responsible for the requirements phase deliverables on the allocated TOIS functional cluster and coordinating work required to design, test, and implement the selected software at a site
  • Collaborating across Business Support Functions, Manufacturing and Mining Operations covering both IT and OT Solutions
  • Understand and contribute to the overall Application Architecture for newTRON 1.0 seeking inputs from other TOIS Stream Leads on the Program
  • Responsible for all FEL3 deliverables in the allocated stream including planning, methodology, preparation, coordination, communication, functional requirements, integration requirements, System requirements, RFP packs, and input to the vendor selection process.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in all applications for the assigned TOIS functional cluster
  • In collaboration with the Business Process Integration Lead, test against the high level “end-to-end” scenarios that tell a simple story of how Business Transformation Program systems knit-together transforming the Tronox business
  • Ensure completeness of the “application footprint” across the functions enabling the “end-to-end” processes developed by the Business Process Mapping teams.
  • Oversees the requirements gathering, application selection and implementation of the various solutions ensuring no unnecessary duplication in capabilities and specific functional needs are met.
  • Join QA reviews on Solution Architectures developed for the Business Transformation Program ensuring alignment to the overarching Application Architecture together with the Manager TOIS Application.
  • Assist the Manager TOIS Application with the tranche design with input from the Business Process Integration Lead ensuring smooth transition for business and operations for each release at each site
  • Work closely together with the existing IT teams and Legacy Application Architect to develop transition plans from legacy solutions
  • Ensure appropriate change management / risk management procedures are followed, including documentation, testing & commissioning plans, and appropriate sign-off at all stages.
  • Work with other Digital Integration team leads to ensure alignment of efforts across the newTRON program
  • Lead development of application standards in accordance with overall standards set by the Architecture Office
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Tronox Reference Architecture in the Enterprise Architecture Tool (Orbus iServer)
  • Ensure application boundaries are clearly defined and documented and working with the Integration Architect to ensure dependencies and integration points are well defined
  • Review Project deliverables and work actively with the partner consultant
  • Conduct assessment of application alternatives through RFP process
  • Conduct QA reviews of the ARB submissions and ensure compliance to Reference Architecture standards
  • Work with the local and regional SME’s to gather functional and system requirements, represent their site inputs and exchange newTRON TOIS information and act as the interface with TRONOX site personnel for the TOIS applications
  • Coordinate with other functional leaders within the newTRON TOIS team and Operations team (i.e.) to understand their cluster and incorporate their requirements into the assigned functional cluster.
  • Coordinate and provide knowledge transfer and deployment training to the end users of the software during implementation.

 

Skills and Qualifications

A candidate that we would love would be:

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience as subject matter expert having successfully delivered a variety of relevant solutions in Chemicals, Mining and/or manufacturing industries.
  • A good understanding of ERP and MES solutions as they relate to Mining/Manufacturing Operations, HR, Supply Chain and Maintenance
  • Good business process knowledge for the assigned functional cluster with the ability to correlate business process needs and requirements into Application Architectures
  • Understanding of ISA-95 framework and sound knowledge of all levels with clear understanding of integrations across these levels
