About the Role

The Security Lead will report directly to the Regional SHEQ Director and be responsible for leading the site security team. The role will oversee all security personnel and support the planning, assessment, and implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening security awareness, improving the management of security risks, and ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements across the operation.

 

Location

Namakwa Sands operations consisting of 3 sites namely Smelter, Brand-Se-Baai and Mineral Separation Plant.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures prevention of intentional or inadvertent access, modification, disclosure or destruction onto the premises.
  • Designs and implements procedure and control necessary to protect access to physical protection of property and company assets.
  • Liaises with local authorities to ensure ongoing communication of regulatory changes and security compliance issues.
  • Oversees advanced audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations to increase security awareness.
  • Manages, oversees and coordinates audits and implementation of management systems and procedures.
  • Oversees the ongoing quantitative and qualitative risk/impact assessments as part of a continuous improvement focus.
  • Oversees investigations into incidents/incidents and the identification of root causes for corrective/preventive actions.
  • Contributes to the development of security emergency response plans to ensure the effective handling of any emergencies.

 

Leadership and Management Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service by anticipating customer needs, meeting or exceeding expectations, and resolving complex complaints effectively.
  • Promote service excellence by guiding others, managing difficult customers professionally
  • Manage security operations across facilities and implement personnel security measures to protect employees and visitors through screening, compliance monitoring, incident investigations and security awareness training.
  • Manage external suppliers, contractors and service providers while coordinating emergency preparedness, hazard assessments, response planning and improvement actions.
  • Develop, test and implement emergency management plans, including evacuations, shutdown procedures, communication systems, personnel accountability and business continuity arrangements.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all organizational levels, using appropriate persuasion, empathy and assertiveness to build understanding and agreement.
  • Prepare and deliver high quality reports and presentations
  • Build productive, respectful relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to resolve issues, coordinate teams and positively influence decisions.

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Relevant PSIRA Security Certificate (E, B, C, D, A)
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Experience in security operations, including supervisory or leadership experience
  • Sound knowledge of applicable security legislation, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Experience in emergency preparedness, crisis response, evacuation planning and business continuity.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and report writing abilities.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage difficult situations and make sound decisions under pressure
