Primary Responsibilities
- The incumbent will be required to work standby, work overtime and stand in for shift electrician whenever required.
- Maintaining of ISO and SHEQ Systems.
- Electrical AC drives and motor maintenance.
- Execution of Routine Work Management (RWM).
- Electrical faultfinding and reporting thereof.
- Knowledge of PLC’s and SCADA systems.
- Maintenance of conveyor safety devices.
- Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical reticulation infrastructure.
- Various Lighting infrastructure e.g., LED, Fluorescent, HPS and Metal Halide Light fittings.
- Siemens and ABB drives faultfinding experience.
- Transformer maintenance.
- Over headline maintenance.
- Knowledge of Auto-Re closers and RMU`S.
Key Competencies
- Compliance: Ensure and maintain a healthy environment, safe operations, and practices. Comply with SHEC- and technical requirements, in line with Mine / Asset availability targets. Implement SHEC programs and ensure adherence to MHSA. Monitor, identify and respond to defects and / or sub-standard equipment performance and other improvement opportunities.
- Continuous Improvement: Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities whilst keeping abreast of new developments and technology within the specialist field. Conduct research work to initiate process changes. Liaise with other sections; manage projects and technology to enhance operations.
- Services Efficiency: Assume responsibility for supporting production departments by adhering to production- and services maintenance schedules. Attend to breakdowns whilst maintaining set production targets. Ensure effective water and energy management, the optimal use of physical assets and available resources (both people and equipment). Assume responsibility for the quality of maintenance work conducted within the functional area. Conduct troubleshooting in order to identify root cause for substandard operating conditions.
Qualifications & Experience
- A certified Trade Test Qualification with a full N2 technical certificate with mathematics, science, applicable trade theory and respective trade related 4th subject.
- Valid code 08 (Code B) driver’s license
Knowledge & Skills
- A working knowledge of NOSA Health & Safety principles and ISO Standards.
- Knowledge of and experience in an industrial environment, experience at mining operations would be an advantage.
- Experience in the electrical maintenance of switchgear, motors, transformers over headlines, cables and lighting.
- Installation Electrician competency would be an advantange.
- MV experience in switching up to 22kv.
- PLC and SCADA knowledge would be an advantage.
