Summary

We are seeking a scientist to join a cross-functional team working on the advancement of research and development projects. The ideal candidate has data architecture, organization, and management skills to enable modeling, machine learning and AI applications broadly. In addition, the candidate will also have experience and interest in developing a new laboratory and running fundamental as well as scale-up experiments to optimize a variety of chemical processes. This role requires a strong background in engineering, problem-solving abilities, and strategic thinking especially related to data architecture to enable effective application of AI processes as a critical mass of data is generated in the laboratory.

As a Sr. Product Development Scientist, you will play a key role in developing data-driven platforms to advance ongoing projects. You will contribute to optimization and operational implementation of separation and purification processes applied to rare earth elements from feedstocks. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a background in chemistry or chemical engineering and data science.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on rare earth metal concentration and purification starting with rare earth containing feedstock.
  • Strategic design of data architecture to enable effective application of AI tools to improve separation and purification processes.
  • Optimize and improve existing data infrastructure for performance and scalability.
  • Conduct research and experiments to improve separation efficiency and yield.
  • Analyze & model process data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • While the position is located in Oklahoma City, effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and operations in Australia and South Africa is essential
  • Design and optimize processes and production of rare earth metal separation.
  • Communicate findings outwardly to various disciplines and stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of inorganic and analytical chemistry.
  • Knowledge of database management and modelling techniques.
  • Self-motivated and has the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Experience with analytical elemental analysis techniques XRF, XRD, ICP, etc.
  • Experience with design of experiments.
  • Knowledge of rare earth metal extraction techniques
