Description
The Import/Export Specialist will provide export, import and SAP inventory movement support.  The successful candidate will be working with all regions, across six continents, handling imports and exports for air and ocean shipments.  Duties entail, but not limited to, securing bookings, monitoring movement and distributing documents that are 100% accurate.  This is a temporary position with a minimum 6 month contract.
 

Job Summary:

  • Works primarily in SAP to complete inventory, order and document transactions;
  • Creates export/import documentation, ensuring correctness before sending out externally;
  • Establishes positive relationships with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, dray carriers, warehouse operators and internal groups (D&P, CS);
  • Monitors dray or dry van carriers to deliver orders in advance of port cuts;
  • Handles rush air shipments on occasion;
  • Tracks critical shipments to destination port;
  • Troubleshoots customer/agent questions, issues timely responses and provides a permanent solution to reoccurring problems;
  • Participates in ocean bid every year;
  • Maintains knowledge of US and foreign international shipments to ensure Government, customer and company requirements are met;
  • Books shipments with designated ocean carriers using a freight forwarder in a timely and a cost-effective manner;

Typical job accountabilities would include:

  • Support obtaining booking confirmations
  • Be familiar with EEIs/SEDs for export filings, ISFs and Customs entries for imports, shipping documents such as bill of ladings, seaway bills, customs invoices and packing lists
  • Send correct documentation to customer service, agents, customers with zero mistakes
  • Answer emails with complete information and provide solutions; follow up, even if no update
  • Demonstrate sap knowledge and be proactive with the onboarding of S/4 Hana
  • Pull a monthly forecast of exports for the next month to prepare for high/low activity
  • Work closely with the Latin America sales rep and all agents with a positive “can do” attitude
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to customer needs
  • Track order activity and alert appropriate staff of any potential delivery problems
  • Obtain a good understanding of incoterms
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of how to use SAP most effectively.  Understand the impact and interaction on other systems and users within the company.
Education and Experience:
  • Hold a supply chain or business-related degree with 3 years’ experience in international logistics, working as part of a team (manufacturing service environment a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • SAP experience a plus.
