Job Summary:
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties which support laboratory, pilot plant, and overall building maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a background in HVAC, pipe fitting, or boiler repair but has the initiative to work outside their area of expertise. This description is not all-inclusive and represents typical elements and criteria necessary to perform this job successfully. Other responsibilities and projects may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Coordinate with R&D managers and other supervisors for the availability of equipment and machines for planned maintenance activities. Review job orders to determine work priorities.

Safety & Environmental:
· Ensure the conformance of procedures and processes.
· Identify possible risks with non-routine work and ensure mitigations are in place.
· Conduct routine audits and verifications.
· Ensure all work performed complies with environmental regulations.
· Complete all applicable safe work related documentation to include routine work permit, crane work, hot work, confined space entry, trenching and excavation.
Technical Job Requirements:
· Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical, air conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment.
· Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on pilot plant equipment and/or facilities equipment.
· Work from mechanical and electrical schematics, sketches, manuals, specifications, and written and oral instructions.
· Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
· Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
· Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
· Start machines and equipment to test operation after repair.
· Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions and other wood structures.
· Framing, drywall, paint, and flooring repair.
· Replace and repair commercial faucets, sinks, and toilets.
· Support shipping and receiving by loading or unloading trucks with forklifts.
· Support various general facilities maintenance activities.
Skills and Qualifications
· Candidate must be able to analyze and solve complex product or system problems.
· Beneficial to have broad knowledge of mechanical systems, chilled water systems, controls systems and energy plants.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
· Valid driver’s license, as well as appropriate licenses (within one year) for boiler and steam repair and service knowledge.
· Fork lift operation
· Crane operation
· Good verbal and written skills as well as basic computer skills.
· Physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to walk, stand, and climb ladders, work in confined spaces and to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds in none ideal environments that could include inclement weather.
· Must be competent, dependable, and have the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
