Description

Position Overview
Responsible for safely performing mechanical repairs, replacing and/or adjusting heavy industrial equipment such as fans, pumps, gear drives, compressors, etc. Troubleshoot equipment for proper performance and repair, as necessary. Support and participate in the safety, environmental and quality goals of the plant. This position is part of the Maintenance department reporting directly to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. Full-time starting hourly pay rate is $28.58. Tronox offers a competitive benefits program, designed to support you and your family. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Demonstrate general knowledge and use of hand tools. (Drill presses, band saws, welders, torch use, pipe threading machines and precision measuring instruments.)
  • Rebuild, repair, and install all types of rotary equipment such as pumps, fans, valves, filters, gear drives, belt drives.
  • Retain knowledge of SOPs for the assigned JQR’s on tasks associated for all Maintenance progressions.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator as required for specific jobs.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to read and repair or fabricate from blueprints.
  • Support the call-out program and work overtime as required.
  • Work swing shift (3p-11p).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree from Junior College (preferred)
  • Minimum 6 months working experience as a Mechanical technician (preferred)
  • Score 75 or higher on the maintenance skills test
  • Professional communication skills
  • Excellent human relationship skills
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics
  • Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work from heights and climb stairs and ladders
  • Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Internal candidates must have completed the Maintenance Operator Training Curriculum, MX or above on most recent evaluation and no active corrective action documentation

Located on approximately 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronox's largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. In operation for more than 60 years, the plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies.
