About the Role

Carries out work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard techniques and processes. Carries out a broad range of investigatory assignments and support projects independently, working on more complex or novel problems with technical guidance and advice from internal and/or external subject matter experts. Provides advice and support on technical aspects of process and product performance.

Reports to the European Technical Service Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes the responsibility of the first level of technical support and assistance for customers.
  • Holds accountability for technical assistance on the market covering a predefined geographic area and industry (Benelux, France – Coatings and Plastics industries), a selection of multinational accounts in Europe, the whole European Paper and Laminates industry and the pigmentary applications in Europe of anatase.
  • Takes the responsibility of providing technical support and recommendations to regional commercial & marketing teams and customers.
  • Takes the responsibility of customer qualifications at new customers and for supporting customer trials of new products.
  • Ensure follow-up and reporting of customer visits and calls through Salesforce.
  • Ensures the coordination role with the pigmentary anatase business Thann site in France.
  • Interacts closely within the Technical Service team members to maximize the group efficiency through active participation in quarterly TS meetings and Sales meetings, covering customer approvals, sharing relevant market info (incl. approvals and developments, product issues, competition, regulations).
  • Monitors and shares competitive market activities.
  • Backs up direct colleagues in case of absence .
  • Takes the responsibility of developing test strategy for new product / product improvement projects.
  • Takes the responsibility of giving direction to R&D scientists and lab technical specialists when evaluating TiO2 products or investigating customer complaints.
  • Maintains the focus on new developments and transfers between manufacturing sites to assist in successfully developing our product range evolution in line with the Sales objectives.
  • Generates and follows up projects with selected key accounts interacting with their R&D, technical and production peers, sharing the necessary info and attending customer plant trials.
  • Acts as an active interface between our internal departments (Sales, OTD, manufacturing sites, Product Stewardship) and the customers to facilitate the “technical sales” of our products.
  • Responds to basic regulatory product questions from customers and redirect the ones requiring a specialized or legal opinion.
  • Takes the accountability of resolving customer performance complaints.
  • Takes the responsibility of supporting OTD allocation.
  • Takes the accountability for coordination and management of Off-spec inventory and Slow Moving Stock product (SMS) moves by interacting with the OTD group to assist in manual allocation and proactively managing concerned volumes.
  • Represents TRONOX on exhibitions, at professional seminars, congresses and trade fairs to contribute in growing the reputation of the company and in promoting the value of our products.
  • Contributes to the setting-up of product and customer specifications.
  • Coordinates the steering of product sampling to customers in close collaboration with a 3rd service provider.
  • Provides internal training (to other departments) on products and applications.
  • Prepares supportive technical selling tools for new products.
  • Ensures all activities are executed in line with the safety policy and the values of TRONOX.

About You

  • University study in chemistry or degree in engineering science.
  • Min. 5 years of industrial experience preferably in the field of pigments for paints & coatings, plastics, papers or paper laminates.
  • Next to fluent English a 2nd language like French or German would be beneficial.
  • Flexibility to travel to customers and TRONOX production sites throughout EMEA.
  • Located in Western Europe (home-office).
  • Good team player attributes.
