The newTRON Business Transformation Program

newTRON is our first major step to achieve our vertical integration-centric strategy, a broad-based operations and business systems transformation that can enable us to meet the foundational requirement of competitive pigment costs. To be the global leader in TiO2, we must adopt a standardized business and technology architecture that elevates business performance, applies the best of TiO2 technology and provides real operations and information technology convergence. This process must take a global view of our operations, reduce costs through standardization and automation, enable operational excellence and ensure our digital capabilities unleash our ability to exploit our global footprint. This crucial project will bridge the gap between where we are today and fully realizing the benefits of standardized processes and operations technologies, and it will impact all aspects of our business, across all layers of technology.

The Scope of the newTRON 1.0 transformation is focused on three key areas, namely:

  • Global end-to-end process design across operations and business functions as well as establishing a Tronox-wide data strategy, master data governance and data cleansing initiative
  • Operational Transformation including full roll-out at Tronox sites, across all layers of Technology from instrumentation, to manufacturing execution systems, to implementation of standard maintenance planning and scheduling processes
  • Global greenfield implementation of ERP (SAP S/4HANA) (currently Tronox has multiple SAP and non-SAP ERP systems) and new peripheral business applications to support areas like supply chain optimization, customer relationship management, integrated business planning,  global trade services, logistics planning and execution, human resource management as well as enabling platforms like document management system.

Position Overview

This is a key role responsible for building and leading the Enterprise Architecture function across Tronox. This is a strategic position critical to driving Digitalization at Tronox and leading Architecture function within the Business Transformation Program which is pivotal to Tronox’s business strategy. This position’s primary function is to define the current and future state architecture and drive the roadmap to transition to the future state. The candidate will report to the newTRON Digital Integration Lead who has overall accountability for developing program architecture, integrated design and ERP project delivery.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Reporting to Digital Technologies Lead collaborating across Business and IT operations
  • Define the overall Reference Architecture framework, standards and tools for the Business Transformation Program
  • Assist 3rd parties with the application of the Reference Architecture framework, standards and tools
  • In collaboration with the Business Process Integration Lead, contribute to the development of high level “end-to-end” scenarios that tell a simple story of how Business Transformation Program systems knit-together transforming the Tronox business
  • Lead the definition of the “application footprint” across the functions and functional clusters for Business Transformation Program ensuring consistency with the “end-to-end” scenarios
  • Lead the definition and creation of all design artifacts supporting the Reference Architecture ensuring they can be generated effectively from the Enterprise Architecture tool
  • Perform QA reviews on Solution Architectures developed for the Business Transformation Program ensuring alignment to the overarching Reference Architecture
  • Lead the tranche design with input from the Business Process Integration Lead ensuring smooth transition for business and operations for each release at each site
  • Ensure the non-functional requirements and scope produced from the Business Transformation Program are consistent with the Reference Architecture
  • Participate in the methodology “Roadtest” ensuring the overall digital requirements, design and delivery methodology for Business Transformation Program is effective for all parties
  • Contribute to the development of Business Transformation Program work package scoping, prioritization and planning ensuring consistency with the Reference Architecture
  • Participate in the assessment of Business Transformation Program application alternatives
  • Perform QA reviews of the ARB submissions and ensure compliance to
  • Lead the planning, preparation and cadence of the Architecture Review Board ensuring compliance to the evolving Reference Architecture
  • Ensure application boundaries are clearly defined and documented with dependencies and integration points highlighted.
  • Use the architecture tool to define and document business process models, Application Information Maps and associated architectural metadata. Own upkeep of enterprise information within the Enterprise Architecture tool

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate would have:

  • 10+ years’ experience as an Enterprise Architect in a mid-size company. Hands on experience in a manufacturing industry, preferably Chemicals and Mining
  • Understanding of ISA-95 framework and sound knowledge of all levels with clear understanding of integrations across these levels
