Position Overview
The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials and services from suppliers. The Senior Buyer will assess the need for existing and new vendors. Facilitation and management of sound contracts and purchase orders and vendor relationships are critical to enable the operation to produce safe, quality, low cost tons and delivery on customers’ expectations. Ensures the operation of the plant in an environmentally responsible manner in compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental Policy. This position is part of the Supply Chain department reporting directly to the US Regional Manager. Salary range for this position is $75,000 - $111,000. Tronox offers a competitive benefits program, designed to support you and your family. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop and issue requests for quotations and request for bids
  • Provide expertise in analysis, evaluation, qualification, and selection of suppliers
  • Lead contract negotiations and ensure strategies are developed in support of the negotiations
  • Monitor market trends and conditions in the creation of the procurement strategy
  • Identify, develop, and qualify alternative suppliers to ensure security of supply
  • Evaluate implementation of methods (JIT, MRP, consignment, and VMI) to optimize high value commodity inventory levels
  • Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met

Qualifications

  • College bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business or Engineering preferred and seven years of relevant experience in a chemical or industrial environment
  • Experience procuring chemicals, energy/utilities, packaging, maintenance & environmental services, capital materials and logistics is preferred
  • SAP MM Modules (Proficient in the creation and maintenance of SAP contracts and Purchase Orders / Reporting on vendors and materials) required
  • Microsoft Office, above average Word, Excel and Power Point skills preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Problem solving and decision-making capability
  • Attention to detail

Located on approximately 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronox's largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. In operation for more than 60 years, the plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies.
