Position Overview
This position will general HR service for non-executive levels, identifying potential HR risks and report to the HRBP/HRM, contribute towards ensuring HRIS quality data and payroll integrity.
This role will be accountable for leading single business unit HR project work and implementing HR strategies on behalf of HR Manager and specialist functions.
Primary Responsibilities
This role is accountable for:
Generalist HR Responsibilities
- Recruitment and Selection in line with Tronox policies and guidelines, as well as the various legislative targets and guidelines within area of responsibility.
- Manage complete employee lifecycle, from inception until completion of assignments.
- Ensuring quality of SAP and Success Factors HR master data, and integrity of all data.
- Management of People Risks,and using data to guide decision making where appropriate.
- Liaison with Retirement Fund Administrators as appropriate, including during processes of withdrawal from funds due to death and ensure seamless administration and conclusion of processes.
HR Business Operations Support
- Understand and support Business goals by assisting Line Management with all HR Employee Lifecycle processes, including but not limited to, recruitment, onboarding, employee data management, career changes, employee exits.
- Ensure compliance with Tronox standard processes linked to the employee life cycle, including but not limited to following respective processes for selection and management of exit processes in line with Tronox guidelines.
- Assist Line Management with talent management initiatives (e.g. leadership development, career management, corporate talent management process, performance management and development plans).
Payroll and Administration
- Responsible for preparation and processing payroll on the system
- Responsible for management and updating of master data on the system, and overall data integrity in area of responsibility
- Ensure that all changes are updated in the system, and that all administration and completion of forms is concluded before implementation of changes.
- Review, and ensure accuracy of approved travel and overtime claims
- Maintain a proper document control system
- Ensure that all processes are captured for further follow through if required, including, but not limited to recruitment, career changes, and terminations
- Ensure compliance with all HR controls, and application of control measures
Employee Relations
- Support and advise line management in their execution of disciplinary and grievance hearings.
- Support the execution of Employment Equity, Diversity and organizational development initiatives.
- Facilitate the EAP referral process.
- Ensure that all medical Incapacity cases are managed professionally and according to set policies and procedures.
Customer Service and Relationships
- Ensure understanding of expectations of internal clients and manage relationships
- Operate within HR service delivery standards and guidelines.

Contracts Management
- Co-ordinate the administration of contractors in line with HR Processes related to the administration and record keeping requirements for contractors.
- Ensure data is captured and maintained on SAP and that processes are aligned with SHEQ requirements.
- Ensure induction training and site-specific medical investigations are conducted as outlined in procedures.
- Keeps record of all documentation and update relevant systems. File hard copies/scan source documentation.
- Update contractor and fixed term employee contracts with extension details approved by Line Managers and update the system.
- Resolve all HR administrative queries pertaining to Contractors.
- Liaise with SHEQ and line management to ensure compliance with pre-medical evaluations, terminations, exit medicals and all relevant legislative requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 (Mandatory)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/ Industrial Psychology (Mandatory)
- Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) (Mandatory)
- Payroll experience or experience in reviewing payroll or previous training
- Training in Data Management Systems (e.g., SAP, Success Factors)
- Driver’s License (Code 8) (Mandatory)
- 5-8 years’ experience as a Human Resource Generalist preferably in the Mining or related Industry (Mandatory)
- Experience in management of the full employee life cycle and processes linked to this
- Experience in HR modules (e.g., SAP time and attendance)
