Position Overview

This position is responsible for transforming the management of Plant Process Quality, Plant Yield Efficiency, and Plant Utility Efficiency, including the development and implementation of projects to improve performance and reduce variability in quality and efficiencies.

Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Possess a full understanding of the plant process to the extent of its effect on quality and efficiencies.
  • Develop leading indicators for quality and efficiency management.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations for quality and efficiency excursions.
  • Implement statistical process control on applicable quality and efficiency parameters, developing action plans and automated responses.
  • Make data driven decisions and demonstrate the ability to make the appropriate assumptions when unknowns exist.
  • Optimize grade change timing and transitions – reduction to production impact and zero transition material.
  • Advocate for Hamilton on global level – spec reviews, capability analysis, and comparisons.
  • Develop local trials to improve quality and efficiencies in process.
  • Facilitate communication between Operations Technicians in each plant area relating to management of product quality and efficiencies.
  • Work with other sites to gain insight on potential quality and efficiency improvements in Hamilton.
  • Work with Production Engineers to ensure production rates are achievable while maintaining high quality and optimum efficiency.
  • Advise and assist plant support and R&D personnel as needed, serving as plant point of contact for trials.
  • Support plant personnel and process improvement efforts to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and production goals.
  • Demonstrate clear written and oral communication skills with peers, management, and customers.
  • Promote a “work-safe” attitude and environment where safety is the prerequisite to all activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 2 years plant experience.
  • Lean / 6 sigma certification and knowledge of SPC / SQC required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills and exceptional human relations skills are required.
  • MX or above on most recent evaluation, with no active corrective action documentation in the past year
  • Consistently applies and uses Outward Mindset Principles and Tools

Located on approximately 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronox's largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. In operation for more than 60 years, the plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies.
