Position Overview

Executing statutory tasks as determined by the Mine Health and Safety Act as well as periodical inspection, repairing, constructing, maintaining and the reporting of faulty equipment used to measure and control plant/mining variables.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act and company specific SHE Policies and procedures
  • A team player able to assist the team to set and achieve targets/goals
  • Do standby and work overtime if needed or when production is down.
  • Repair, maintain, installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • Control plant spares for breakdowns & shuts and do weekly Kitting
  • Perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements, which include the following services: Pumps and pipelines, Screens, Trommels, Mill, Conveyors, Feeders, Grizzly, Chutes, Thickeners, Building structures, Overhead cranes
  • Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Mine’s Code of Practice, Procedures, Standards and Company SHE objectives - Knowledge of Section 22 &23
  • Ensure sound maintenance approach and housekeeping activities
  • Continuous improvement on plant equipment and process flow
  • To be innovative and creative

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certified Trade Test Qualification with a full N2 technical certificate with mathematics, science, applicable trade theory and respective trade related 4th subject
  • Valid code 08 (Code B) drivers’ licence
  • A minimum of two years’ maintenance experience in a mining environment.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Computer Literacy with knowledge of MS Office
  • Good communication and administration skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office assisting in Daily Scheduling and Planning of tasks
  • Planning (Routine Work Maintenance)
  • Ability to apply systematic fault finding and problem-solving techniques (RCA and RCFA)
  • Safety standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Pumps and pipelines, Screens, Trommels, Mill, Conveyors, Feeders, Grizzly, Chutes, Thickeners, Building structures, Overhead cranes
  • Ability to read technical/mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to assist with compiling scope of works for required maintenance work.
