Position Overview

This position is responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the safety and health programs through daily interaction with shop floor personnel to achieve an accident-free workplace. Ensure compliance with corporate safety and health policies, as well as government agency (i.e., OSHA) regulations. Provide operational support and advice to site management, plant supervisors, and personnel to ensure PSM standards are understood, implemented, and maintained. Act as the company’s representative when dealing with government agencies and local community groups. Also ensures the operation of the plant in an environmentally responsible manner and in compliance with the Environmental Policy. This position is part of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality department reporting directly to the Process Engineer Lead. Salary range for this position is $77,000 - $95,000, with a targeted. Tronox offers a competitive benefits program, designed to support you and your family. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop and implement facility safety and health action plans.
  • Communicate safety and health policies and programs to all employees through safety meetings, training, bulletins, and personal contact.
  • Provide technical safety engineering support to eliminate potential hazards to personnel and property.
  • Conduct investigations and analysis of accidents, occupational illnesses, and serious incidents to recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform statistical analysis of injury and illness trends to continuously improve safety and loss prevention programs.
  • Assist leadership to resolve health issues by identifying exposure and implementing policy to reduce risk through implementation of industrial hygiene practices.
  • Assist with management of radiation program including requirements identified in radiation license.
  • Assist project managers and line management in interpreting applicable regulations and implementing an effective safety program.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety Environmental Health, Chemistry, or related field required
  • 7+ years of plant and manufacturing experience
  • Knowledgeable about OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A willingness and desire to interact daily with employees on the shop floor
  • Exceptional leadership skills and ability to mentor and motivate
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to assess and implement EHS best practices
  • Excellent organizational, recordkeeping, and documentation skills
  • Ability to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action
  • Able to deal with a variety of emotions and frustrations in making business decisions
  • Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes
  • Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Internal candidates must have MX or above on most recent performance evaluation and no active corrective action documentation

Located on approximately 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronox's largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. In operation for more than 60 years, the plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies.
