Position Title
Project Process Engineer (Fixed Term – Two years)
Location
Mine Site (Brand se Baai)
Position Overview
This position will take full responsibility of managing the Process design of two large projects that are currently in Pre-feasibility study (PFS) phases. On the successful completion of the PFS phase, these projects will proceed, subject to approval, to the Feasibility study and Detailed Design phases.
On completion of the Detailed Design phases this position will play an active role in the Execution phases of these multiyear large capital projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Required to lead all process engineering design deliverables and test work activities for a large project.
- Aligns design outputs to Namakwa Sands standards and processes.
- Technical problem solving during the study, design and construction phases
- Leading the projects risk management process including Hazard Operability Studies (Hazop’s)
- Required to perform financial evaluations during the project’s study phases
- Technical report writing and the review of calculations and drawings by 3rd party design engineers
- Comply with SHEQ systems and requirements
- Reports to the Project Manager
Qualifications & Experience
- B Eng, BSc (Eng) or B Tech degree in either process Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, NQF Level 7
- Computer literate – MS Office and MS Projects
- Code B driver’s license
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Heavy Industrial Metallurgical or Chemical Process environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent process design experience, including understanding of material properties and the impact it has on thickening and slurry flow behaviour.
- Have sound multi-disciplinary engineering understanding.
- Excellent MS Excel capabilities, trend analysis and query creation capabilities.
- Ability to plan, perform and analyze test work in laboratory and plant scale environments.
- Sound knowledge of feasibility studies, detailed design, construction and commissioning workflows
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent report writing and oral presentation skills.
